An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus/embryo, resulting in or caused by its death. An abortion can occur spontaneously due to complications during pregnancy or can be induced, in humans and other species. In the context of human pregnancies, an abortion induced to preserve the health of the gravida (pregnant female) is termed a therapeutic abortion, while an abortion induced for any other reason is termed an elective abortion. The term abortion most commonly refers to the induced abortion of a human pregnancy, while spontaneous abortions are usually termed miscarriages.

Abortion has a long history and has been induced by various methods including herbal abortifacients, the use of sharpened tools, physical trauma and other traditional methods. Contemporary medicine utilizes medications and surgical procedures to induce abortion. The legality, prevalence, and cultural views on abortion vary substantially around the world. In many parts of the world there is prominent and divisive public controversy over the ethical and legal issues of abortion. Abortion and abortion-related issues feature prominently in the national politics in many nations often involving the opposing pro-life and pro-choice worldwide social movements. The approximate number of abortions performed worldwide in 2003 was 42 million, which declined from nearly 46 million in 1995.

Abortion???????????!>?
Q. Im not prego. I would never have an abortion. But how do u have an abortion? Is it like takeing pills? Or do you have the baby early? Or what?

A. If it's before 12 weeks you can have a chemical abortion and you will just bleed like a period. If it's after 12 weeks, they will do the vacuum method. They dilate your cervix and extract the fetus that way.. I don't even want to go into later term or partial birth abortions.. you can google that... I am pro-choice up until later term and partial birth abortions.. that is just wrong...

How soon after a medical abortion did you have your next period?
Q. I had a medical abortion 6 weeks ago today. I still haven't had a normal period and there are no signs of it coming. I'm just curious about when it came back for most other women. I don't think I'm pregnant, so I'm not worried about that. I'd just like for my cycles to get back to normal so I can get on with my life. Thanks.

A. Wow, since no one has actually bothered to answer this question, I'm going to be the first (I really don't understand why people have to use this as a forum for their pro-life nonsense.) After my abortion, I had my first "period" about 2 weeks afterwards (although the nurses after the operation said it would be about 3-4 weeks before this would happen so I guess it's different for every woman.) I was later told that this wasn't a period but instead it was normal bleeding that occurs after the procedure. It hurts a LOT. Then about 5-6 weeks after that, my nomal period resumed. So you should be fine but if you're still worried, see a doctor. It's very unlikely that you could still be pregnant after a medical abortion as there is so little… [cont.]

Why does Obama advocate abortion as a form of birth control?
Q. Obama says he's cool with using abortion as a form of birth control. Why would we elect someone like this as our President? Inexperienced, flip-flopping and voting "present" on tough issues are all shortcomings, but advocating abortion, when adoption should be the solution, shows Obummer is not just under-qualified, he's evil!

A. I agree with you. It is very sad how much media and marketing has helped Obama. I hope people really research the truth about both candidates and not rely on the news, media etc to make their decision. I really think Obama is evil and I don't trust him one bit. Then there are people like my mom who is a democrat and Dennis Rodman could run for president and she would vote for him just because he is a democrat.
